    WhatsApp Will End Support In Some Android and iPhone Devices

    Last year, WhatsApp, one of the most popular messaging platform in the world, discontinued its service for some smart phones. 

    A latest report states that this year also the company is going to discontinue its service for some iPhones and Android devices. Facebook's proprietary messaging platform has now revealed that WhatsApp will stop working for smartphones running on older operating systems.

    According to the report, WhatsApp support will end on Apple devices running operating systems older than iOS 9 or Android phones running operating systems older than Android 4.0.3. On a support page, the messaging platform advises users to use the latest version of their operating system to enjoy the all-new WhatsApp feature recently rolled out.

    WhatsApp will end support in these iPhones by 2021

    • WhatsApp has advised users to upgrade their iPhone to iOS 9 or later operating systems and Android phones to Android 4.0.3 and later versions.
    • This suggests that all iPhone models up to iPhone 4 will lose WhatsApp support.
    • Models include the iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S. In order to continue using the WhatsApp service, users must immediately update their operating system to iOS 9 or later.

    This Android device will be affected

    • Talking about Android, WhatsApp has revealed that it will stop working on smartphones that work on Android version 4.0.3.
    • However, Android devices that works on such old software are not very much, so this step may not affect more users.
    • Some Android phones that are still running on older OS include HTC Desire, LG Optimus Black, Motorola droid razr and Samsung Galaxy S2.
    • Therefore, make sure that your Android phone is working on Android 4.0.3 version or working on newer version.

    Ways to check which OS version your phone is working on

    To check which OS your iPhone is working on, you need to go to Settings> General and Information> Software, here you will be able to see which operating system your iPhone is running on.

    Android users will be able to go to Settings> About Phone and see which Android version their Smartphone is working on.
