Microsoft Teams Stop Supporting Internet Explorer 11

The US-based company Microsoft Teams will stop working on Internet Explorer 11 from today and for millions of people across the world. The company is taking this step as it looks to shift to the new Microsoft Edge browser.

Microsoft has also announced that from 17 August  2021, remaining Microsoft 365 services will also be discontinued on IE11. This announcement states that just after ending the support for the legacy Microsoft Edge browser on 9 March 2021, it would be applied to the Microsoft 365 services.

"We’re announcing that Microsoft 365 apps and services will no longer support Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) by this time next year. Beginning November 30 2020, the Microsoft Teams web app will no longer support IE 11.Beginning August 17 2021, the remaining Microsoft 365 apps and services will no longer support IE 11,” Microsoft said in a blog post.

"This means that after the above dates, customers will have a degraded experience or will be unable to connect to Microsoft 365 apps and services on IE 11. For degraded experiences, new Microsoft 365 features will not be available or certain features may cease to work when accessing the app or service via IE 11.

While we know this change will be difficult for some customers, we believe that customers will get the most out of Microsoft 365 when using the new Microsoft Edge. We are committed to helping make this transition as smooth as possible,” the company explained.

Microsoft recently started a move to start migrating Internet Explorer users to the new browser. Now, certain sites do not open in the old browser and bring an automatic redirect to Edge, which is already pre-installed in the latest editions of Windows 10.

The latest version of Microsoft Edge is now available for Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, iOS, Android, and macOS. So, if you are using an older version of Windows, you would still be able to upgrade your browser experience and continue working with Microsoft apps.
