Today is a great day for that user who edit photos on a PC or Mac. Google  has declared that the entire Nik Collection of image processing tools is now free to download and use.

Nik Collection acquired by Google  with the 2012 purchase of Nik Software, that is the German company and is better known for the Snapseed apps for Android and iOS. While Snap-seed is a simple, but powerful tool for regular customers to modify images on mobile. Before Google acquired it the suite sold for $500, and it later went down to $150. Now all of its plugins have just been made free for everyone. User who has bought them this year will be able to get a full refund.  Sadly, those who bought the suite in 2015 or earlier won’t be getting their money back, which is disappointing for those who paid $149 just four months ago.

Google explained “As we continue to focus our long-term investments in building incredible photo editing tools for mobile, including Google Photos and Snapseed, we’ve decided to make the Nik Collection desktop suite available for free, so that now anyone can use it,”. The company said that anyone who bought the Nik Collection in 2016 will get a full refund, too, which is a nice touch for folks who just bought the software.

“The free Nik Collection package includes Analog Efex Pro, Color Efex Pro, Silver Efex Pro, Viveza, HDR Efex Pro, Sharpener Pro and Dfine,” Google said. All of the can be used within Photoshop or as standalone software.

The filters include plug-ins for Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Lightroom, and Aperture, and is available for Windows and Mac:

Color Efex Pro which has a wide range of subtle color filters.

Viveza which is an innovative enhancement tool that adjust the color and tonality of your images without complicated masks or selections.

Sharpener Pro which Bring out hidden details constantly with the professional’s choice for image sharpening.

Announcing the giveaway on Google+, the company said: "Photo enthusiasts all over the world use the Nik Collection to get the best out of their images every day."
