YouTube Announces Paid Channels

YouTube has just announced Paid Channels. YouTube plans to introduce a self service features for qualifying partners within next few weeks. You can find paid channels list from here .This is the first that YouTube has announced paid service.

According to Youtube Blog, we’re launching a pilot program for a small group of partners that will offer paid channels on YouTube with subscription fees starting at $0.99 per month. Every channel has a 14-day free trial, and many offer discounted yearly rates.

As reported Variety,
“There is some content in the pilot rollout that has been on television, or in theaters for that matter, but there’s also content that comes from creators on YouTube who have built large audiences,” Malik Ducard, YouTube’s director of content partnerships, said to reporters.

“What we believe will resonate on the platform is enabling content creators to bring innovation to their content and bring it to their communities,” he said. “I want to be clear: This is just the beginning.”

” TV content owners can build audiences on YouTube, but we really believe YouTube is not television, or one-to-one with TV,”

In an interview with The Associated Press, he said he turned down an offer from Hulu for about $5,000 to $6,000 per film several years ago, but sees promise in the YouTube offering. His channel, "Corman's Drive-in," will cost subscribers $3.99 per month for a rotating selection of 30 movies, refreshed with new interviews and clips from films that are in production. It is set to launch in June.

On YouTube more than 1 billion unique users visit each month. Over 4 billion hours of video are watched each month on YouTube. 72 hours of video are uploaded in every minute.
